Ash, Iris e Cylan continuam a sua viagem para Nacrene, quando são alvo de um ataque de bolas de lama por um grupo de crianças e de um Trubbish, que fogem da educadora, Daniela, e da sua avó Karena, dona de um Day Care Center. Mais tarde, a educadora explica que, depois de não permitir que os alunos ficassem com Trubbish, que fora encontrado abandonado numa lixeira, por causa do cheiro, as crianças revoltaram-se e refugiaram-se numa casa de árvore, por trás de uma muralha de lixo.
Ash promete resolver a situação,e sobe até ao intitulado quartel do “Esquadrão Trubbish” (Trubbish Squad). Depois de se tornar amigo dos alunos, Ash percebe o seu ponto de vista e promete ajudá-los a ficar com o pokémon.
Daniela decide então intervir, expulsando Trubbish com a ajuda do seu pokémon, Deerling, mas Ash e Pikachu não o permitem. Quando Pikachu e Deerling começam a combater, Deerling embate acidentalmente na “muralha” de lixo, que começa a desmoronar-se. Todos colaboram para impedir o acidente, incluindo Daniela, que se entrepõe entre um móvel a cair e um dos rapazes, mas no fim é Trubbish que salva o dia atirando para longe o lixo em queda com o seu Mud Shot.
No fim do dia, a educadora acaba por permitir que os seus alunos fiquem com Trubbish. Para agradecer a Ash pela sua ajuda, Karena presenteia-o com um ovo de pokémon, dizendo que terá que esperar que o ovo choque para saber que pokémon é.
